What CBD Should You Buy and Where Can You Buy it

CBD for beginners information to help you decide if the major benefits of CBD that research is constantly discovering, are for you.

How do I know which CBD products to buy?

The key to choosing the right CBD for beginners product depends on how you want to use it. Oils and sprays tend to be the first step, but many people enjoy consuming edibles such as sweets and chocolate too.

Each type of product has variances in how quickly you’ll experience the effects of CBD.

For example, vaping CBD may take up to 15 minutes.  In comparison, ingesting through oils may take up to 30 minutes, and edibles up to 60 minutes.

Types of CBD for Beginners

CBD for beginners is available in different forms including:

Oils & tinctures: CBD in liquid form, which is placed under the tongue with a dropper.

Creams & lotions: Topicals infused with CBD which are usually used to treat muscle/joint pain and skin conditions.

Capsules & pills: CBD in capsule form, which is swallowed with water.

Edibles: CBD in sweet form, usually chewed and swallowed.

Vaping: Inhaling CBD oil through an e-cigarette or vape pen. We do not sell any type of vaping product on this site, but if you are interested in vaping, you can find vape products here

How much CBD for Beginners should you start with?

The FSA recommend that healthy adults do not take more than 70mg of CBD a day, unless a doctor agrees more. This is about 28 drops of 5% CBD.  You can read more about the FSA’s guidance for CBD usage by clicking here.

What is CBD?

Short for cannabidiol, CBD is a chemical component found in the cannabis sativa plant, also known as marijuana.

CBD is a naturally occurring substance derived from the hemp plant, which is marijuana’s plant cousin.

It doesn’t contain the psychoactive, THC, which is found in conventional marijuana products that produce a ‘high’.

Trace amounts of THC can be found in full spectrum CBD products, which is legal in the UK if within permissable limits of less than 0.2%, and with less than 1mg THC per container.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is different from the other well-known ingredient found in cannabis plants – THC.

CBD oils have little to no THC in them so you won’t feel the same intoxicating effects that you would get from taking conventional cannabis.

CBD is legally used in food supplements and skincare products found in the UK, and the World Health Organisation (WHO) has stated that CBD is “generally well tolerated with a good safety profile”.

Research suggests that there is no evidence that you can get addicted to CBD oils, which is likely due to CBD not interacting with your brain in the same way as THC does.

CBD oil and hemp oil have key differences. While CBD-based products are made from the full hemp plant, hemp oil is pressed from industrial hemp seeds. Hemp oil is more likely to be seen when used as a raw dressing on salad, for example, and it does not contain the same number of cannabinoids as CBD oils.

What does CBD do?

Several clinical trials have shown CBD may be an effective treatment for conditions such as epilepsy, depression, anxiety, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Crohn’s, arthritis and more.

CBD has proven neuroprotective effects and its anti-cancer properties are being investigated at several academic research centers around the world.

Under UK law, CBD products are classed as food supplements and therefore cannot make any medicinal claims. For this reason, most CBD products are marketed as wellness products.
