Who is Thierry Mugler?

Thierry Mugler is an esteemed designer and perfumer creator. He is known for being controversial and this is as true for his fashion collections as it is for his extensive range of perfumes.

Mugler moved to Paris in his mid 20’s, finding work as a freelance designer. It was during this time he began to experiment with design, creating a large variety of ready-to-wear collections for fashion houses in Paris as well as Milan, London and Barcelona.

In 1973, Mugler created his first independent clothing collection for women called ‘Cafe de Paris’.

His first perfume, Thierry Mugler Angel, was introduced in 1992 and caused a huge frenzy as it was one of the first of its kind – a gourmand fragrance. Mugler’s Angel perfume has been hugely influential since its release and continues to be one of the designer’s most popular fragrances.

It was a whole 13 years after the success of Angel that Mugler decided to release his second women’s scent, Alien, which has been released in a myriad of new versions.

These days Mugler’s perfumes are probably more famous than his fashion lines and he continues to astound us with his creations for both men and women.
